Just spreadin' the good karma.....

It's all about the good karma..

Oh yeah....Probably one of the best gaming-news I've come by in a while..

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas 'nuff said. Damn!! It's coming!!

Friday, May 28, 2004

If you grew up during the 80's, and if you owned a Family Computer, or Nintendo Enterainment System console -- head on over here and check out videos of people finishing memorable NES games in "record-time", also known as "time-attack". They essentially breeze through the whole game, pretty interesting stuff if you're a gamer, and you used to develop "kalyo" playing these games.

Oh yeah, you're going to be needing Bittorrent to download the videos, and I think corresponding codecs to view them.

So school started for me this week. Yeah, we start THIS early. Fuck noh. Hay. Oh and I'm enrolled in only 2 subjects this term, yep, you read that right: TWO. That's one major subject and my thesis which doesn't really have a lecture class. The thing is, the major subject I'm taking has a pre-requisite which I failed in last term, and unfortunately the subject isn't offered this term, too. So fuck. If my special-class application doesn't push through, I'm just going to be left with THESIS as my only subject this term (I'm going to be forced to drop the subject I'm taking right now, since I haven't been able to pass its pre-requisite). Such is life.

I seem to have contracted a bad cough/sore throat as of late, and just when I've quit smoking altogether. Yep. I've quit, for the nth time. Not that I've troubles controlling myself, longest stretch I've gone as a non-smoker was oh, 2 years? So there, I'm going to be quitting for good now. :)

Did you know that if you smoke after eating, there's a higher-risk of you getting cancer? Why? Well since you're essentially trying to relax, you inadvertently inhale the highest levels of nicotine-laced smoke. So there.

So Iya Villania studies in my school. Hehe! She's this game-jockey from a local-channel, which I only chance upon when I'm really really bored. She's pretty pretty in person. So which celebrity/artista/etc. studies in your school?

Oh, and Bamboo played yesterday during U-Break. Fucking missed it.

Everybody who has watched Shrek 2 loves Puss, can't blame him -- deadly nga naman yung kanyang pa-kyut pose. Mwahahaha.

Though, for me, this "boy" is my favourite.

"I'm a real boy!!" Mwahaha! Mwahahaha!

Plus that sequence ala-MI2 was just, priceless..

I wish Jollibee gave away Pinocchio toys in their Kiddie-Meal promo. I have Shrek and Donkey, I want a Pinocchio toy -- with matching "girls-underwear".

Oh, lastly, anyone picked up a pack of Oreo's? They've a "Shrek 2" thing going-on. Instead of the standard white-cream-filling, they've got neon-Shrek-green coloured filling. Hehehe! Iris got me a pack, alas, me being the diabetic can't eat it. Fuck. Tell me how it tastes.

Monday, May 24, 2004

I saw Shrek 2 today, and I've to say, it's just every bit as funny as the trailer had me imagining it was going to be. I still haven't watched the first one though - so I just had to find a "copy" of it, hehe. I'd love to share the best and juciest parts in the movie, but I'm really not a guy for spoilers -- so there.

//

Adjustment over at my college just sucks ass, the people over at my college had people standing for over two hours in line, and when they finally open the "window", what do they do? They hand out numbers. Fucking Number-stubs! If they had a system like this after-all, why didn't they have someone distribute the numbers, have everyone sit down, or walk-around (might've done the people passing through the lobby some good, too) -- fuck. It's just stupid. My college just has to employ the dumbest secretaries around! Bitchy, too. Hay. Ewan. And this just for adjustment ha.

//

It's always hilarious seeing how "froshies" "are", on their first day! I still am amazed at the "phenomenon" behind "blockmates", going to the comfort-room in groups of TEN, when only ONE of them will actually take a leak. Mwahaha! I find that really, funny. Not that I didn't go through that stage, though. Mwahaha! And my friends were making fun of a froshie walking around with a water-jug, evil-upper-classmen are they. ;-)

//

Oh and the new full-blow-version of YM! is out.

//

Hey! Iris and I turned 1 year and 11 months today! :)
Badabing!

A new layout! Yahoo! Hehe! I know I know, I might look like a couple-of-other blogs around, but hey! I like this! Yahoo! Oh yeah, I got the template from blogger-templates.

Short post.

Soo, for my comic-reading friends -- Grant Morrison IS getting married, to her. Whoa. Cool. Hehe!

Our new "house-helper" arrived yesterday. Hurray! She doesn't speak too much tagalog, though.

//

Iris' mom had her operation last Thursday. Everything went well, thankfully -- and yesterday when I was there they were just waiting for her to "fart", before she gets to eat a decent meal. Why? Well my dad says that during Tita Louie's operation (and I think most operations of this type), her intestines received some pressure and with that, her intestines "contracted" like how a makahiya would when you touch it. She needs to expel air, or "fart", before she gets to eat otherwise some complications might arise. I'll try to find a detailed explanation of why a patient needs to fart first before eating after an operation, and maybe post it here.

//

I'm currently listening to my first audio book, Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci Code". It's quite an interesting experience, really, having to listen to someone read a book to you -- and having him (Paul Michael) act our "dialogue-parts" in the story (yep, even female-characters). Personally, I'd still go for buying an actual book and reading it, backtracking and bookmarking where you left off can get pretty tedious sometimes.

//

E3 kicked off this week, and my oh my, everything looks pretty good for the Electronic Entertainment industry.

These, I want..

More on these, here.

Oh yeah, and there's a Playboy game coming out this year. Crazy.

//

Links!

For people who want to read, the Nominees for the Hugo award are out. Neil Gaiman's story, is finally online, as it wasn't available for "perusal" last week.

Here's a site which details how you can construct your own "Star Wars Playset".

And here's another variation of the "t-shirt folding video #1".

Wednesday, May 12, 2004

Iris' mom is having an operation on Thursday. She has, I think, "myoma" -- and her ovaries I think, need to be removed. I'm not familiar with the procedure, but my mom had her operation years ago and she's ok. So I think that's good to know. I think she's going to be confined at the Polymedic hospital, which I hope is better than most of the hospitals I've been to.

So there. I'll miss hanging out with her for a while, though.

//

I've been catching up on reading some of my books lately. Right now I'm reading "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay". I picked up the book after reading on Ramon's blog that it touched on the subject of "comics", which I love. I'm enjoying how the dialogues in the book were written, though some of the words have me reaching out for a dictionary sometimes (as some of the words are a bit too heavy for me, hehe) -- the whole experience of turning each page just makes me smile. I'm in the part where the main characters discuss about making a comic book, and I can't help but feel giddy about it, basically I turn into a fan-boy of sorts. Then I think about how most of the people today STILL see comics as a medium for kids, just for kids. Hay...Ewan, basta whoever think that was is just soo "missing out". I'd love to rant on and try to "debunk" the whole "stereotype-d" view about comics, but I'd rather reserve that for another post. So for now, go out and buy the book: "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay", it's worth every peso you're going to be shelling out for it...

//

I think the "bidet" is the most deadly device in the bathroom. Especially when the water pressure is too strong, MAN! What an experience. Soo be careful when you use it, if you have one! Haha!

//

I'm surprised that Quentin Tarantino is actually OK with the piracy of his Kill Bill movie in China. Oh tell that to Mel Gibson who sued three of his former employee's for allegedly making pirated copies of Passion. Hmmm, I don't know if it should be funny, but I think two of his employee's were Filipino..Hmmm...

//

Oh and you guys have to try the Wayback Machine over at the Internet Archive's website. Ever wonder how your site/blog looked like a few months or even years before? Check it out.

If I do get a good paying job, and eventually become so fucking-filthy rich in the future. My furniture will definitely come from these guys. Eat your heart out Ikea!

Music-plasma is just too cool to not try. Type in the name of a music-artist of your choice, and chances are you're bound to stumble into artists who share their "sound", meaning they "speak-musically". Hehe! You get discography information, too. I guess it's a cool way of finding out the answer to that question: "Hmmm, I like , I wonder if anyone else sounds like them?", if you do ask that question. Hehe! Try it! Try it!

Oh, and you've gotta watch this video. I guess, it goes to show APPLE is doing good in japan, huh. Damn. And I thought premiere's for the LOTR and Star Wars movies had long-lines......talk about, "getting in line".

I like how blogger.com changed their current "posting-process-layout-whatyoumaycallit". ;-)

Today was my first time to vote, surprisingly it didn't take as long as I've always though it would've. I took longer sitting in front of my "folder" thinking of who to vote (it's hard to choose you know, given the choices I had, hehe). What's scary though is, the "attendant"(?) by the booth didn't even ask for any identification from me, besides my name of course. Hmmm...

Plus it's become too much of a hassle to pick my nose, now. I've indelible-ink on my index-finger, and regular-fingerprinting-ink on my thumb (not that I use my thumb, noh). Oh well, the pinky is still there...Hmmm..Ahh..Oohh..Hahaha!

Here's some information on nose-picking!

Weird Information 2

Oh, and finally, someone behind the Pacquiao-Marquez makes some sense, albeit too late though.

"Vegas judge Burt Clements said that had he been aware that he was able to score a round 10-6, he would have made that his score for the first round of Pacquiao-Marquez. Clements scored it 10-7 instead of 10-6 as the other two judges did and had a 113-113 draw on his scorecard. Clements stated to the media that he thought the Nevada Athletic Commission did not want its judges to score a round 10-6, executive director Marc Ratner said it is up to each judge's discretion to score a 10-6 round."

More here. This piece of news I got thru Vic Icasas' blog.

And here's how my desktop looks today.

Would you buy a $10,000 12GB Flashcard? Haha.

Now this is cool. A Wireless Beverage Monitor, which can be attached to the bottom of a pitcher. über-coolness.

Thank god for WoWoW. I at least get to see an episode of Sopranos every once in a while. I have got to save up enough money for the DVD-sets, as the show is just simply "GOOD". Hehe! I wish some of their (WoWoW) programmes had subtitles, though -- as they are currently showing episodes of Dragon Ball Z and Lupin. No, not "those" programmes, silly, subtitles wouldn't be appropriate with "those" programmes, right? ;-)

Yesterday was a sad day for my "chickens".

After getting really disappointedd with the Pacquiao-Marquez fight. Juan Pablo Montoya just had to retire from the Spain F1 race. Oh well...The WRC in Cyprus is coming up, though, so I guess it's something to look forward to. Go Go Solberg!

REMEMBER: Go out and Vote today! Okay!

Just found out that there's actually a world-record-category for text-messaging. Strange, but this guy just broke it, tapping (I love the term), this out on his phone: “The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human” in a mere 67 seconds. Hmm...C'mon try it, you know you want to. Hehe!

The hiPod

That my friends, is the hiPod. It's supposed to be a combination cellphone/PDA/iPod which you can wear on your wrist, a concept design by designer Isamu Sanada. Check out his site, he has loads of other "concept-designs" for other Apple products.

The Star Trek Pad

Now this guy has to be crazy to have even built something like this, but he's probably making a lot of sense auctioning it off for $1,000,000.00. Hehe!

And you thought dieting was good for everyone. Look at what it's doing for the Krispy Kreme doughnut company.

And I think posters like this just add up to the accidents here in the Philippines, but I'm not complaining. Hehe. ;-)

Boys, stop.

Winstub

Winstub. Where drinking is a requirement, where everyone is happy. And where the Friday Bands' girl-vocalist armpits are just deadly....... :)

Oh yeah, I've had a wishlist for some time now. ;-)

So there.

REMEMBER: F1 Qualifiers tonight, STAR TV. 18:55

Funny Link Day

And you thought wine-making was easy. Download and watch this.

More stuff like this, here.

Oh and I wish I could park my car like this.

Or play arcade games like this.

Hmmm...

You guys might also want to check out Sexy Losers, it's an on going mature-web-comic of sorts. Really funny stuff. Thank's to Bruce for the link.

Oh yeah. Here's the new iPod ad. :)
I want this shirt.

I've been watching a bit of anime' lately. I get my fix from fan-subs available for download on the internet. Fan-subs are anime' episodes which currently air in Japan (therefore they don't usually have subtitles or english-dubbing), so groups on the internet volunteer to "subtitle", hence the term "subs", these anime' episodes to cater to non-Japanese-fluent individuals. I guess it's a bit illegal, really, but I think certain laws on "subbing" are a bit region-sensitive so groups continue to "sub" until an anime' title is "licensed". Which essentially means that the rights to air episodes are bought by an established "subbing/subtitling" company. Usually when the anime' is bound to be showed in the US, this is the time "subbing" stops.

One anime title I was a bit sad to see licensed is Gokusen.

The whole premise of the show had me hooked when I first saw my first episode of it. It's about a young japanese woman who's always dreamnt of being a teacher, but her background of being one of the heir's of a notorious Yakuza-group has always bothered, if not hindered her pursuit of her dreams. The first episode detailed her first day of teaching, and it was hilarious seeing her "demeanour" transformation from "goody-goody-teacher" to "yakuza-ojou" when faced with stressful situations. The fan-subs ran for around 10 episodes, until the title got licensed.

I saw Van Helsing today. Really didn't like it that much, the trailer had me looking forward to it pa naman. Coincidentally there's an anime' called "Hellsing", though I doubt if there's an actual connection between the two.

Anyway, the movie just had me feeling the way I felt like after watching LXG. Dissappointed. Well LXG I wanted to be good since I'm into comics. Van Helsing, I hoped to be good since I'm a bit of a sucker for vampire-flicks. Oh well. The movie just had too many "cheesy-scenes" which could've been done away with (do you actually have to fit in love when you're killing vampires and goblins?), the dialogue sucks, really. Plus Van Helsing's "pa-cool" aura didn't really help with how his character fit into the equation. Hellboy's bad-ass attitude I liked, Van Helsing's, pweh.

So there.

I picked up a comic book today, a rare event being that I stopped a bit from collecting a few months ago just because the hobby has cost me a lot of money, and I've reached the point where it's pretty hard getting my regular comic fix. I used to collect single issues, so they eventually gutted my wallet, now I wait for the TPB's (trade-paperbacks). I've been meaning to get this book, Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah for some time now, it's just recently that I found a TPB of it available. The book is about a "baklang-modista" who gets super powers "Darna-style", and eventually she encounters the regular slew of badguys and do away with them. The book is packed with really "blazingly-familiar" humor and dialogue you'd expect from your local parlor-bakla's, and will probably have you laughing after two pages of it. Galing. Check out the link, there's a bit of a teaser there, I think a bit of the first issue. Check it out, and if you do like it get it! It's published locally (yes, it's a tagalog comic, galing noh) by Alamat Comics, and it's pretty cheap Php 240, if you've the cash to spare for your monthly-cell-cards, ragnarok online cards, why not shell out some cash for this! C'mon! Plus you're helping out with the thriving local comics scene. C'mon. Hehe!

Speaking of comics, FREE COMIC BOOK DAY is just 57 days away. If you don't know about this event, you're missing out. Go to the link. It's really simple. You get a FREE comic book on the designated day (June 3, 2004) when you drop by your local comic-book store. Outright. I do know of some places which actually require you to purchase first before getting a free comic-book. The titles which come free are a bit limited, as the whole purpose of FREE COMIC BOOK DAY is to encourage people who've stopped, haven't or who are thinking of picking up comics as a hobby -- to start and see what comics today have to offer. O diba? Panalo!

While you're at it, and if I've managed to convince you to get into comics. You might want to check out the blog/site of the comic-book-list I'm in, it features news-updates, reviews, etc. done by my friend Ramon.

Lastly..for people on the move you guys have got to pick up the iGo juice. It's essentially a mobile-adapter for your laptops, phones and handhelds. It comes compatible with almost any major-brand of laptop and PDA's. Basta, ang galing.

So there..Ciao.

So who caught the lunar eclipse last night? I did, and it was pretty cool seeing the moon go into "sepia" before my eyes. Hehe. I felt kinda dumb though, as usually, during evenings the moon appears just outside my window. And last night when the clock hit 3AM, I was looking for it and was pretty much dumbfounded when I couldn't see the moon, I thought: "What an eclipse, the moon actually vanished". Now tell me if it's common knowledge that the moon ACTUALLY moves, because I didn't know that. Hehe. Slap me silly, but I really really didn't know that. Hmmm..

It's funny how for the past few months I've expanded my horizons thru blogs. Blogs I hop to thru the link-box of blogs I regularly visit. Most of the information which have managed to make me feel that I know the good stuff around comes from two blog-sites. Ramon's and Jean Snow's. Check both of them out.

And from Jean Snow's blog is some information about C2, a Coca-cola product purposedly made for people who actually count calories but don't really "dig" the way Coke Light (which uses Aspartame, if I'm not mistaken) tastes. Alas, the thing wasn't exactly created for people like me. More on it here.

A few months ago, I stumbled upon this nifty little application called "Objectdock" which is essentially a taskbar replacement for your standard Windows taskbar, so that it appears and feels like the taskbar of a Mac computer. Needs a little bit of getting used to though. O diba, sexy na yang taskbar mo. Hehe.

My tita gave us M&M's the other day. The pack was all in black and white, plus upon opening them (sadly as I attempted to sample a piece, my brother grabbed the "precious" from my hand), every piece was black and white. Galing. Strange actually. Turns out it's a part of a contest which has the M&M's saying on the package: "Help us, we've lost our colours". Funny.

Here's how the actual pack and M&M's look like:

I've come to love Sharpie's lately, they come really handy for labelling stuff. CD-R's which I burn, boxes, writing on walls, giving campaign poster-faces a facelift, anything really. It's as useful as a swiss-knife! Haha! SO I took a picture of my Super Sharpie.

Anyone know where a smaller-version can be had? The Super Sharpie is sometimes a bit Super-Big for me, even if I do have significantly big digits on my hand, too.

My mom and dad came from China a few weeks ago. And they got me this:

Anyone reading this who's chinese, and who actually understands what the characters beside each mask say? I've been collecting different masks for some time now, and would love to know what each mask stands for. Hmmm..The box which the frame came in says that these are Chinese-Theatrical masks...

Lastly...The Simpsons voice-talents get a pay-raise. Interestingly though, I heard over the radio the other day that they actually got the proposed $8 Million per year, or around $360,000 an episode "settlement". But some sites say otherwise. Oh well, it's actually good news that the series'll keep on going. Now time to save up for those DVD-sets....

This months Rolling Stone magazine cover.

Thanks for not picking it up. ;-)

Do post on the comments if you see a copy, though. Thanks, again! Hehe!

I got into an argument with a Policeman while in traffic the other day. It was all just over me not giving him the chance to squeeze into my lane, he didn't deserve it anyway -- after his wild counter-flow tactic, I really didn't think he deserved it. The "cop", actually was dressed in civilian attire, went over to my side of the car and knocked on the window; after finally getting into the lane, but his position was directly behind me. I didn't pull down the windows, and this made him furious -- he was shouting every tagalog expletive word he could think of. It was a funny sight, really. What ticked me off was when he punched my window, then proceeded to punch the body of my car. Made me think about a Street Fighter bonus stage. I laughed everything off. After a few seconds or so, I went down and felt the part of my car he punched. Wasn't really much of a dent, thankfully, and after I got back into my car, he again went down and proceeded to head my way. This time I pulled down my window and listened to him mouth-off. He tells me why I was such an asshole, I tell him I'm not, it WAS actually my "right-of-way" so he didn't have any right insisting on moving into my lane. I ask him, why'd he have to punch my window, he tells me it's because I'm an asshole. I laugh. I tell him to show me the "badge" he was waving in front of my face a few minutes ago. He takes it out. And I laugh. I tell him what he expects me to do when he flashes it, he tells me I should've pulled down the window, I tell him, "Why, what exactly was my violation?". He ponders. I proceed on telling him that he shouldn't have punched my window, or my car. He asks me "Why?". I tell him "It's because a simple knock would've done the job". I laugh. He ponders. He then proceeds to get my hand and shake it, and for I think a full minute while I mouth off what expletives I've been keeping inside me all the time, he says "Sorry". It's funny how assholes are nowadays. I didn't bother getting his name or badge-number, he wasn't worth it, really. Although, if you do see a Mitsubishi Adventure with plate number XEN 661. Do puncture his tire, put a corn-cob in his exhaust pipe, or just proceed to go around his car with a piece of sharp rock scraping his paint-job. Thanks.

Soo..I found this to be really weird. Check it out.

Three of my friends celebrated their birthdays last Saturday. It was really a fun night, despite some flared-tempers which could've led to some fists thrown, I had a really great time. The wine-and-cheese were really good, a few of my friends got "wasted" by the Vodka, plus the hosts' older-brother had some San Miguel Pale Pilsen Beer in stock, my personal favourite. Daymmm..Although I felt kinda deprived being limited to the mixes I could do with my drinks (well, I really couldn't mix drinks, just take different drinks in different swigs). Everyone was having "vodka-with-cherries", the mudslider drinks, the mango rum got me interested but a friend told me it was sweet. Shit. Oh well. I was ok with the "buzz" olde-Pale Pilsen gave me. ;-)

Man on Fire was a blast to watch. I love how Tony Scott did his shots. He constantly yanked me out of the scene, and plunged me back into it with his almost dizzy-ing camera-angle-variations, for the lack of a better term. The subtitles, and how they were done (often fading in-and-out of a scene, or popping out on top, or at the right of the screen) were pretty good. It was my first time to see subtitles being used and done that way. I wish there could be cinemas which could display subtitles according to every viewers discretion, maybe by way of a special-pair of glasses perhaps? Hmmm..I'm a bit iffy with dialogue and, I find myself wanting to backtrack anytime I didn't fully understand or pick-up what characters say in a scene. Story-wise, the movie takes off from the lines of a "Revenge" film, which seem to be a "fad" in hollywood right now (Kill Bill, etc.). In the film, though, Denzel Washington serves out his platters of revenge in poetic-justice-style. Making every "killing", look and feel like a work of "art". Strange how I find it to be like that. I'm still thinking of things to say about the film, might update this post, or mention something about the film again, on another post. Just watch it! If you haven't...
