This morning anlabo ko. Promise. Napuyat ako diba, I think I was able to sleep at around 4:30AM na. So my brother comes into my room waking me up at around 7AM (we usually get up 6:30AM just so he makes it to his 8AM class in UST). Tapos ito ang naging conversation namen:

Johann: Kuya..Kuya...Gising na, 7 na.
ME: Huh, Hmmm...*snore*
Johann: Psst Kuya, gising...
ME: Ha? Ikaw naman ang nakikinig dun diba? Nakikinig ka pa ba? Lipat mo na yung track..
Johann: Huh?
ME: Ha? Baket? Anong oras na?
Johann: 7 na.
ME: Ahh..Kanina ka pa gising?
Johann: Oo. Tara.
ME: Ok...

Hayup! Hassle kang U2. Bono. Mwahahaha! Labo kagulo. Aaral pa ako boys and girls.

Listening to: Jerry Seinfeld's "I'm Telling You For The Last Time" set

Zooropa - U2

(What do you want?)
(What do you want?)

Zooropa...Vorsprung durch Technik
Zooropa...be all that you can be
Be a winner
Eat to get slimmer

Zooropa...a bluer kind of white
Zooropa...it could be yours tonight
We're mild and green
And squeaky clean

Zooropa...better by design
Zooropa...fly the friendly skies
Through appliance of science
We've got that ring of confidence

And I have no compass
And I have no map
And I have no reasons
No reasons to get back

And I have no religion
And I don't know what's what
And I don't know the limit
The limit of what we've got

Don't worry baby, it'll be alright
You got the right shoes
To get you through the night
It's cold outside, but brightly lit
Skip the subway
Let's go to the overground
Get your head out of the mud baby
Put flowers in the mud baby
Overground

No particular place names
No particular song
I've been hiding
What am I hiding from

Don't worry baby, it's gonna be alright
Uncertainty can be a guiding light
I hear voices, ridiculous voices
Out in the slipstream
Let's go, let's go overground
Take your head out of the mud baby

She's gonna dream up
The world she wants to live in
She's gonna dream out loud
She's gonna dream out loud
Dream out loud

So yeah we won! Oh yeah!! Tang ina tuloy pa ren ang finals this week...Hay. I'm starting to think that whenever DLSU plays a big-hard-to-win game, there shouldn't be 4 quarters, kelangan 2 halves lang. Just for the fact that DLSU's players fuck up when they get well into the 3rd quarter or so. Pansinin niyo. Diba? Hay..Oh well..

Animo La Salle!

If I pass my finals on Tuesday, I'll be finished with most of my subjects, the thesis sadly has to be taken AGAIN next term. So I'm heading off to study now.

Oh and the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas website's got some new stuff. A couple of new screenshots, and a trailer. Oh I can't wait for this game.

Currently: Studying
Music right now: Jeff Buckley's Grace, and Gavin DeGraw's Chariot

hooo my gulay...hooo my gulay, and when I was planning and saving up for the EOS 300D, this comes out......

The EOS 20D. Tae. Shit. Ganda. Sexy. Canon. Oohh..

Hay...
Is there any way to have my feet shrunk, or shortened? I mean, I wear size 13's for christ-sakes. And having that shoe size here in the P.I, makes shoe-shopping a pretty depressing and frustrating experience. Case in point: Right now, I'm craving for these pair of shoes, but the site where it's being sold from has only up to a UK SIZE 6!!

Uh a UK SIZE 6 is only a 7 when you convert it to US SIZE.

Hay....Buhay..

I just finished my last exam for the week earlier this everning, I've still finals to look forward to next week...Tae.

Anyway, while I'm pretty much free from school-shit, I've decided to fix the stuff on my iPod, plus I've to come up with a CD for my friend Pao, gusto niya kasi puro MP3's, ako na daw bahala. I hope he likes what I pick out for him. I've lately been listening to a lot of hip-hop and a little bit of Punk Rock. Yeah. Chopsuey noh? Hehehe! Anyway, thank god for The Wikipedia I've a pretty OK grasp of the genre's I'm going to place next to an artists' name when I start to fix my muuuuusssiicc... It's probably one of the most useful and informative sites online. Here's a link to their list of artists by musical-genre.

Oh and I'll also be pimping Musical Plasma, again. Hehehe it's just soo useful when you want to discover a new band or sound.

Warren Ellis' Global Frequecy is being turned into a TV show. Hmmm. I do hope they do this awesome title some justice when the series comes out. This I'll probably be up to follow. Hmmm talking about comic-book-series'..I think I'm the only person who hasn't been able to finish watching a single episode of Smallville. Weird ba? Hmmm.. I remember Lia pushing me to watch some episodes a year ago I think, she even gave me a bunch of episodes to watch, I think a whole season ata FOR FREE. Iris ended up watching them..

I want this....tsss....yeah....hay.....

Sunday, August 15, 2004

Collateral was pretty good. I liked it. Kinda reminded me of Spartan, it being the silently-not-too-overrated-and-publicized-good-movie as it is. I liked Tom Cruise playing the bad-ass-I'm-so-fucking-ruthless bad guy, and Jamie Foxx being the "adapting" cab driver. Galing. Plus the dialogue (which I've recently been surprisingly paying attention to lately, when I watch a movie), was pretty good. SO there..Sayang, today's the last time anyone can catch it here ata in Metro Manila, or maybe 'til Wednesday. Ho-hum. I'm still holding off on watching The Village though.

Oh yeah, Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind is still showing over at Greenbelt 3 and Power Plant. Do catch it, if you haven't. Hehehe..

So there's a new Blade installment(the third I think which makes Blade a trilogy?) coming out. It's the first time I've seen the Marvel logo coming out in the trailer. Hmmm..Meron na ba niyan before?

Is it the year/season of the documentary? The Yes Yes Men seems to be another addition to the growing-list of documentary-movies coming out....

And I thought my experience of lining up 5 years ago for enrollment in La Salle was the worst experience I've had in lining up, check out this article on the release of the iPod mini in Japan, talk about lining up. Daym.

Oh and let me place a picture from the article, too.

Now wouldn't you want to wake up to that, and have these babies occupying your shelves. Hmmm..Yeah. Daym.

I want these..

Hmmm...

Oh my..

Jenson Button seems to be heading over to BMW Williams F1 team. My. Oh. My. This'll shock everyone. The qualifiers for the Hungary leg of the F1 season'll be later pa naman. Hmmm...Pretty much mixed emotions about this...Hmmm..

Bored..Bored..Stress..

To my fellow Lasallians. You guys've better be good at this game.

Oh and hoopsters, people who like shooting stuff into trash cans, kahit ano. I think you'll enjoy this game, too.
I've recently taken to following a local band: Stonefree. The barkada got to catch them in one of their gigs last week in Salo. Pretty good stuff they play, well most of what they played were covers, but their originals; I pretty much "dug". That was the first time I heard them play, and I'm looking forward to dropping by Salo over at QC again to catch them next next week (the 28th). One of their songs: "Listen" was/is (?) the theme-song for the Studio 23 show "Single". I was meaning to get a CD last week during the gig, kaso si Job (my youngest bro) didn't tell me na may benta palang ganun sa gig! Sorry, live-band-virgin ako eh. Pwe. Napapirma ko sana!! Hmmm..

Oh, and Iris has recently called herself a "bamboo-groupie-member". Whatever that is. Hmmm..Creepy ba dapat yun? Hmmm..Ewan, I bought her a Bamboo CD before we watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (which if you haven't been able to watch, is just too fucking good to have missed...Sayang!!), she practically drooled over the inlay-card while watching the movie. Hay. Ako talagang si kunsintidor at hindi seloso. Hehehe!
--

Fuck yeah. I'm a gamer, but I tend to shy away from fighting/beat-em-up games (my second brother Johann can kick ass, though). But this, I've got to play. Fight Club:The Game. How cool is that.
--
So I've recently read around blogs that M.Shyamalan’s The Village sucked. Hmm. Tae. I was expecting it to be pretty good pa naman, after watching the trailer kasi medyo nag-expect na ako. SO ayun. Hmm. Might just watch Collateral tomorrow. Or something. Maybe after Iris and I bring Tulip to the vet for a vaccine (for my friends who've been waiting for a nice picture of Tulip, I'll post one soon. Promise).

Yesterday, I was able to watch War Photographer. I've always dreamnt of being a photographer. I've always been facinated about the art of the "frame", though I am a bit camera-shy (I hate posing for pictures, but I love taking them). So ayun. After watching War Photographer, I've developed this better appreciation about the "art", and the risks these photographers take just to get the right picture at the right time. It's not about having the right lighting for the picture or the right people posing for you. It just boils down to having the BALLS to risk arm-and-limb, and sometimes just being a complete asshole to get the best shots. Think photographing a mother mourning a lost son, and just being in her face all the time. That takes a lot of guts if you ask me, plus a lot of PR probably. I got pretty surprised as the documentary's main character James Nachtwey was the photographer who took pictures which actually looked familiar to me already, pictures I've seen before but never got to know who shot it. Siya pala yun. Galing.

Oh yeah, the Mercedes Benz Mixed Tape #2 is out. Enjoy.

Tuesday, August 10, 2004

Do yourself a favor and go watch Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind, before movie-houses pull it out, tomorrow na ata ang last chance niyo mga friends. Go Go Go.

Oh and check out the cover of this month's Rolling Stone

Damn.

Michael Chabon, you so fucking rule

Why? Well just check out his keynote speech on comics, uhuh.

Yep, Sin City The Movie(?) baby, oh and it's being done by Robert Rodriguez.

I love comics.

I hate people who have this stereotyped view of comics as "stuff" read by kids, airheads, etc., or that comics just won't convey a specific message on a certain level as a regular book will, fuck that. There's just this "stigma" that bothers me that "people who read stuff with pictures, need those pictures to visualize the story, or something..". Fuck that shiyet.

I love comics and the way that it (comics) as a medium, is able to associate drawings with words -- to tell a story. Or something.

So there. I'd love to do my part for spreading the word about the joy, enlightenment, great shit, strong fucking story lines, orgasms, erections, education, etc. people can get from comics. Reading comics. I know I'll have my son, or daughter read comics, and I'm thankful that I grew up in a family that has "dug" comics as a medium by which you can actually learn something (well minus my lola who torched all my tito's comics when he was a kid just because he spent so much time marveling at the art of Spider-man, Action comics, etc.). I pity the children who grew up shunning comics just because their parents told them it just ain't worth shelling out a few more pesos for something that comes out once a month and something that has pictures and words of superheroes, or something. I love book ha, don't get me wrong, but fuck the stereotyped views. Fuck that. I know comics now, is breaking through barriers of IT being considered "literature", but I just want to wake up to a world wherein everyone reads comics!!! And everyone loves comics! Or something. Maybe I'm like this because I know that the added readers will eventually help the industry flourish and all that, but still, I guess I'd just love for comics to be as common as the daily newspaper, or the TV for that matter. Maybe that's why I feel soo good whenever I see a comic book finally being recognized by "non-fan-boys", recently too when comics are actually being made into movies (well some of the movies just fuck-up the comic, still, the exposure is pretty OK). Hmmm..or maybe, I'm like this just because I want other people to feel that "tingle" you get when Jesse Custer from the Preacher commands someone to do some crazy shit Garth Ennis thought of. So yeah. I LOVE COMICS, and I think you, whoever you are, should try it out too.

Though I have to warn you that I HATE how comics just makes me so goddamn flat broke...Just like when I splurged a significant amount of my savings on these:

Just finished reading Maus. I cried. It's one of the most beautiful books I've ever read, and probably one book I'd encourage anyone I know to read. Like you. So get it, if you don't have it, or read it if you have the chance. It's just, oh, so beautiful. The dialogue, the story-telling being so personal at a level in which I think the reader'll feel every which emotion Art Spiegelman's characters are feeling. Plus the pretty unconventional way Art Spiegelman chose how his characters would be depicted in the story (the Jews as Mice, Nazi's as Cats, etc.) is just brilliant. Get the book, please. They have a copy of it over at Fully Booked.

hello world

My family seems to be getting this "sunday-movie-out-rockwell-night" thing going on. We saw Catwoman tonight, do avoid it, please. It's as bad as I expected it to be, from her "jolog" (sorry I just don't buy the chick-in-leather-with-jolog-hair) - look, to her sorry-ass-not-thought-of-well one liners. Kadire talaga, wala pa si Batman, so what's the point? Tae. Oh well.
--
So I've been reading Art Spiegeleman's The Complete Maus for over a week now, the book's going pretty well. I picked up the book on a whim (and after much argument with my wallet), so far it hasn't disappointed me. I love how Fully Booked is able to sell their grapic novels and TPB's at a wallet-friendly $1-Php50 conversion. So there.

Last week I was able to try out the new iPod. I liked it, being a 3G iPod owner, the new 4G's new mechanical buttons are just a big relief to the 3G's über-sensitive-touch-pads, though seeing the blue-white-backlight makes me want to get back my old 3G iPod. Overall, with it's new longer battery life and MECHANICAL BUTTONS!! This should be a no-brainer to pick up for the discerning buyer. Hay...
