Coca-cola in the Philippines article, and a bit of gaming on the side

Got this through boingboing. It's a link to an article about Coca-cola promoting its presence here during the 1950's.

Oh and another "iteration" Rockstar's GTA series. Apparently, the PSP will receive its own port of the GTA game (not the San Andreas expansion, though). Microsoft's XBOX, come June '05 will receive its own version of the game which PS2 owners like me have been playing since June -- GTA: San Andreas, will get its own port to the XBOX. I wonder, with the change of console-platforms, will there be new features, and gameplay improvements (I doubt any improvements to loading times will be one of these, as GTA: SA, on the PS2 has almost NO loading times -- save for the times you enter buildings; which is tolerable compared to having to encounter GTA: Vice City's loading screens everytime you crossed the two main bridges of Vice City).

There's a Scarface game coming out, even a Godfather game! I think both movie-to-game ports will suck. I mean, some companies are just trying too hard to break into the criminal-crime-action/adventure-game genre which Rockstar's GTA franchise just dominates. You can only do so much with these two movie titles. I mean, back when Mafia was released, it didn't have to rely on an underlying story or background for the story to follow, or even dictate the gameplay. There was always this feel of actually playing the part of a "mobster". With Scarface and The Godfather games, other than twisting the story into something new, or giving it an open-ended gameplay experience (which could be an almost impossible task given the legal and or entertainment issues developers might face), it'll just be a linear-you-know-what'll-happen-game. Here's hoping they pull off a Spider-man movie-to-game port, and not a Fight Club movie-to-game-port failure.
