Anyway quick update on all things cool, for me at least.

So yeah the 17" MBP looks wicked (sans the $2,800 pricetag) with that much real-estate sitting on your screen, you're sure to draw stares at the local coffee-shop-while-leeching-free-wifi. And the thing is just over an inch think, sweet. Then again, this could be a great time to get that 15" MBP, seeing how the release of the 17" variant signals that the quirks of earlier rev.versions of the MBP must've been ironed out. Oh but this could also mean that a 12" "roadwarrior could be in Apple's pipeline...

I've been playing a LOT of Lumines lately. Lumines II is about to come out, and y'all who own a PS2 are getting some Lumines-love.

I was going through my DVD of Oldboy the other night and found myself loving it a lot more since I first saw it. Beautiful colours, Oh Dae-Su's kickass shades. Man, and the commentary track was a joy to follow. If you still haven't watched it, get off your ass and go download it or head on over to Amazon. You can also source it from my friend Parc's website.

While you're doing that watch these too! Was at the 10th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta over the weekend at Clark. Had a blast. My modelling club had an exhibit. I'm going back next year! Fun fun fun! Lot's of flying happening, hot air baloons, ultralight planes, even a parachute-flying team was there! Oh yeah, someone even gave a marriage proposal while riding one of the balloons!

Mcdonalds is handing out "ampao" envelopes (those red chinese-good luck envelope thingies) -- they suddenly reminded me of one of my closest friends Marco. Back in college, he lodged with me and my thesismates; since we still had class in the morning he'd ride with me to school and back. Leaving our friend's house and heading over to Mcdo for drive-thru breakfast was a routine we had for over 3 months. Not counting the times we'd go back to the drive-thru for dinner; we were able to collect a substantial amount of these "envelopes", and for some time we were saving a LOT of money really getting our "mileage" out of all the "ampao". So yeah, after seeing the ampao envelopes, Iris showed me these old pictures she took of my barkada + Iris's trip to Bolinao. Marco, if you're reading this come home you dawg!

Iris got herself an iPod Video last week. She's going gaga over the video-capability (I put some trailers from Apple's site on it); I'm also into the mobile-video-viewing thing -- I watch some of my bit torrent downloads on my PSP when I'm waiting in line, or when Iris is shopping. Smart WiFi customer service sucks ass. PLDT owns them I heard, go figure. The CSR person assigned to handle my problem last night with the office-internet connection took over an HOUR for him to tell me that a person from Technical Services would call me about the problem. Fucker kept on telling me to reboot, release the IP's, etc even change the fucking browser (READ: if your system requires a specific kind of browser for it to work properly, you're more or less fucked). If it wasn't for my mom and dad celebrating their 27th!!! wedding anniversary last night, man was my Friday ruined. Peking Duck dinner at Gloria Maris kicks ass!

So yeah I've been busy with work too. A couple of people got fired from work this week, so everyone in the office is pretty much juggling the pending jobs those managers left behind, me included unfortunately.

Oh yeah, traffic pretty much appeared out of nowhere today, well I pretty much expected it seeing how everyone's going back to the grind -- I just wish that the roads were back the way there were last Monday and Tuesday. Two days of driving bliss I tell 'ya, now gone down the drain. Working all the way in Greenhills and living in Paranaque's a pain in the ass (not to mention the wallet)! 50 pesos for toll, 50 pesos for parking, I bring my lunch to work so that's a relief. Tsk.

So I'm kinda following suit with some of my friends who've managed to get their resolutions/to do list/wish list down for the year 2006. I'm a noob in this thing, so if what I come up with isn't exactly one of the previously mentioned lists -- bear with me.

2006 should be the year in which I...

1. Switch.
2. Get some spiritual healing done (it's only recently that I felt how empty I was of HIS presence -- and being able to experience HIS presence again felt really good).
3. Take better pictures, hopefully with this baby.
4. Get a Scuba license.
5. Hit the gym regularly.
6. Save more moolah, and resist impulse buying.
7. Buy less model kits, and build more of them.
8. Read my growing shelf full of books.
9. Watch all the DVD's I have, and sit through every second of commentary and additional features that came with them.
10. Work on my application for an MBA.
11. Stash up on work-clothes. I'm a shorts+T-shirt person, so donning the corporate/business look is a BIG adjustment for me. :(
12. Burn, backup, and watch all my downloads.
13. Add more kickass restaurants and eateries to my now long list of places to pig out.
14. Tackle Diabetes head on, I still avoid discussions about my sickness until now.
15. Learn Pranic Healing. Yeah, I'm into that.
16. Defend comics!

Hope y'all had a great X-mas. I had a pretty OK one, being with family's all enough for moi. The New Year's just around the corner, my mom gets to be a year older on January 1, she's hitting 55. :(. I wish my mom and dad were immortal.

So yeah our exhibit kicked off today! The #2 guy at Tamiya graced our event. Check out the pictures here. He even signed up as a member! Woot! Woot!

Damn place took us hours to set-up! We started Tuesday 10PM, we finished 4AM the next day. Whew.

Iris convinced me to watch Just Like Heaven. Typical chick-flick down to the very end. If Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite you wuss!) wasn't in it, I wouldn't bother posting about it here.

Dropped by my favourite comic store (Druid's Keep by the Magallanes interchange, right after the Cloverleaf overpass, comment if you want directions!). It's been a long while since I last held a comic in my hands. I think I spent a good hour just oogling at the new titles, and these kickass toys. I missed the smell of comics, books, toy boxes, and delivery boxes. Looks like I'll be there every Friday, letting traffic pass by. Here's to hoping next time I step in, I step out with something. I'm itching for a LOT of books. Good thing some of 'em aren't on TPB's...YET.

Just can't seem to put down stuff on paper or anywhere so I can mind-fart about them here.

So yeah..Hmmm..

Saw Harry Potter: GOF today. Loved it. Can't wait for the DVD. If you haven't watched it yet, gogogo and buy yer tickets! Hermione's one hot chick, can't wait 'til she's like 21. :) All 6 theatres at Rockwell have HP:GOF showing, so yeah, they've got most of the choices covered if you plan on dropping by there; time slots, too. I was kinda wishing they had a screening for Emily Rose, though I think that was taken off and is going to show this Wednesday to give way for HP:GOF. Oh, and Pirates of the Carribean 2 is coming up, YEAH. Now to watch the first one. Yeah. I'm a loser :)

The newly renovated Fully Booked branch at Rockwell kicks ass! Going around inside feels like you're in one big maze of books (yeba!). They even have a map for you to follow, just in case you get lost. The place was packed today, actually had to really avoid kids running around and people hogging the shelves at times -- there was even this guy who was reading this coffee table book beside me; you know how those things have glossy pages, right? Anyway, so yeah he was reading this book and he had this habit of scratching/tapping the edges of the page/scratching the surface of the glossy pages (in that order) every time he stopped to read. FUCKING DROVE ME NUTS!!!!!! These kinds of sounds, plus baloon rubbing/styrofoam rubbing/wet-shoes making contact on the cluth/brake pedal are just some of the sounds which I can't stand. So yeah. The guy was a serious shelf-hog too. Fucker.

So yeah I've been stuffing my face full with food, as usual. Some places you might like to check out would be: The Seven Corners Buffet at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and Snackaroo! Seven Corners is I think similar to The Circles buffet (I have yet to try this one out), they've got almost all the bases covered when it comes to choices -- Chinese, Japanese, Meditteranean, and Filipino. They have this chocolate fountain going on too! Damn, if I wasn't diabetic, and my girlfriend wasn't going to know about it, I'd take a big ass cup and fill it up with chocolate from that fountain... :( Alas, my mom and bro were threatening to tell Iris. So I just had to settle for fruit. Fuck. So yeah, the desserts are killer (figuratively and literaly) if you're not a diabetic, go eat for me, will 'ya? Service is pretty good too, seeing that you're paying almost around $20 per head. So yeah, I'm itching to try Circles, just so I can compare.

Snackaroo naman. Well it's this hole-in-the-wall kind of place just off of the Kamuning-Kamias area at QC. I tell 'ya, QC people have it going for them when it comes to food. Sucks being a Southerner..Anyway so yeah, I've been frequenting the place every weekend with my modeling club friends; you read that right, modeling, not THAT kind of modeling where you strut yet stuff on the runway, more like scale-modelling -- you know, tanks, cars, airplanes, etc. We're having our yearly national competion/exhibit this December! I'll plug that later. So anyway, if you're going to Snackaroo, the only thing you have to order is T-bone. Period. No Erase. Infinity. T-bone. Juicy, cotton-like, T-bone. $3 for one fat-slice. I take mine without any gravy. Try it ok? Ok? Hmmm so yeah that pretty much sums up my food post.

The International Plastic Modelers Of The Philippines Bert Anido (IPMS-BA) will be having a National scale-modeling competion this coming December 7-11 at the Atrium Bldg. A SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City. I also spent the most part of the Weekend watching the special features of my Shaun of the Dead DVD.. Hilarious, I've seen the movie a gazillion times already, and it still makes me laugh every single time. If you chance upon the DVD, pick it up. If you're into Zombie films like me, you'll probably get a kick out of it. If you're my friend, and you've been good to me, and you're careful with DVD's. I'll lend it to ya, to watch it with you! :)

Oh and what is it with Texas Hold 'em and these spin-offs of Poker? Hmm I see sets and people getting into this sprouting around like mad mushrooms. Hmmm. I'm too out of the loop to know stuff like these. Baduy ako eh. :(

In about an hour and a half, I'm turning 23. Hay..

My brother Job bought me cake from Bizu. I thought it was going to be deliciously sweet, and oozing with chocolate. Instead, it was sugar-f-ing-free!!!! Hehe! But I still loved it. Ate it after going through a platter of sinugba and baked mussels at Dencio's by the service road at Sucat. Great place, great view -- and they've about the best service (among all the Dencio's resto's I've tried).

I'm off to play WoW now. At least there, my character won't be getting old! Only levelling up! :) *DING*

Just got home from Pawie's surprise party. It was nice seeing old friends from college, and finally logging some time hanging out with my barkada. We've all been itching to just get together and chill. We miss Chad and Marco who are now both in Canada and San Jose. Come home you bastards!!!

So me, Iris and her mom were by 168 today. It's that "mall" around the China-town area in Manila, near the route going to Divisoria. What a place. Talk about bargain-ridiculous prices; I saw an alarm clock for 20 pesos. 20 pesos? Where's the profit in that? I mean how much did it cost to make that alarm clock? Though I'd think twice about using that, since judging by how the alarm clock looked it'd probably conk out on its first alarm, but jeez 20 pesos? So yeah, Iris and her mom went gaga over the necklaces, bags, pants, and Freebra's. Whatever that is. I got meself a megaphone for 300 pesos! It's got a 10 second voice-recording feature and this funky-chinese-carnivalesque tune for its siren. Fun fun fun! Quit wondering why I got that, that's just me! Hehe! I'm going back to get myself one of those electronic flyswatters, this kick ass night-stick which turns into a sword! Yeah and we weren't able to go up to the 3rd floor, so we might do that next week. Parking's a bitch though, we're taking the cab next time.

If you still haven't watched The 40 Year Old Virgin, get off your ass and watch it! Hilarious! I needed Kleenex half of the time from laughing. If it wasn't for that funky smell Iris and I were getting whiffs of during the movie (think Wet Dog, and it had to come by us everytime there was a quiet moment). Was funny seeing my hobbies being the hobbies of the guy in the movie, too -- of course Iris kept laughing at me telling me I was so like the guy. Umph!

Like duh! So yeah THEY forgot. Now I'm stuck with load for calls only. Hanep ah. 2 days daw. Putek. With that, I just had to forget my damned password for sureseats, and I need to TEXT to retrieve it. Oh well. 10:30PM Gloerietta, here's to wishing there won't be too many people.

Just got home from picking up Iris from her medical school org activity "thing". I live five houses from her, so I'm pretty much her driver whenever she has to be out late at night. So yeah. Encountered the usual slew of Friday traffic along the south super highway going to Quirino. Halfway to Quirino, Iris calls and tells me to just wait for her someplace convenient since the rain pretty much caused the route to Nagtahan, Aurora, etc. to be jammed with traffic. I was thinking of meeting her by Cash And Carry, but I figured that area probably had traffic too from the flooded spot at Buendia. I spot a Pan De Manila and I agree to meet her there while she hitches a ride with a classmate.

I park out front of the Pan De Manila, and get greeted by this friendly security guard. I asked him if I could wait out front for someone after buying something from the store. Upon entering the store I notice these 2 kids, girls, they turn out to be sisters. They were selling their sampaguita bundles, but kinda stopped since it was raining pretty hard. See here in the Philippines, we have kids who go around the city (usually along the main roads) who sell flowers to people in traffic. Usually these flower bundles end up as offerings placed on altars, or sometimes if one is fond of the scent of the sampaguita, it ends up being hung on the rearview mirror. Sometimes these kids kinda get one your nerves when they literally sometimes push themeselves onto you bugging you incesstantly about how they just want cash for food. Anyway, so yeah one of the girls was bawling in tears. I felt bad about how she was crying, I was half guessing she was crying because she was hungry, or she just wanted to go home. It was cold, wet, and looking at the clock it was close to 11PM. Other kids their age would be home playing their PS2's, reading their Harry Potter books, watching something on TV, or just sleeping after the week's barrage of schoolwork. So I went ahead and bought bought of them bags of pan de sal (bread) and cheese bars. The security guard took the liberty of getting them drinks, out of his own cash. Great guy, really. Some "sekyu's" would just shoo these kids off so as not to "inconvenience" the customers. Anyway so yeah I gave the two of them the bags and was joking with the crying girl to stop, asking her too why she was crying. She didn't feel like talking, and her sister along with the guard told me "Sinusumpong po" (She's having Tantrums). Oh. Ok. I head into my car and as I was opening my bag of pan de sal, I looked out my window and saw the kid selling her flowers despite of the rain and cold. I felt bad about how everyone was safe, dry and warm at home or inside their cars these kids and I'm sure a lot more like them were out trying to just raise enough cash to buy their next meals. I just had to do something at that point. I called for the kid. Asked her if she'd promise me she and her kid sister would go home if I bought all their bundles. She said yeah. Gave her cash and told her to keep the change.

You know it's been a while since I bought anything from people selling stuff on the streets. I remember the last time I bought something was when I was with Iris, it was Christmas and this guy was selling these blinking star-pendants. Iris loves stars, and the guy had only one left. Iris and I wanted him to just be off and go home to his family. So yeah, we bought it.

Anyway, I felt like crying, really, after seeing those two kids go home. It was kinda beautiful seeing how the older girl had her raincoat, and her wet sister was crying -- the older sister took off one arm of the raincoat and managed to fit her sister and her inside the raincoat which I'm sure I'd barely fit into. They even ran into this other girl still in her school uniform bare feet; some small talk and they parted ways. Probably a schoolmate. *Sigh*. One day. One day. I'm going to have enough money to take these kids off off the streets. Give them food, shelter and education. One day. I've had that in my book of "promises"/"things to do before I die" for years now.

I went home with my car smelling like sampaguita. My rearview mirror blocked with all the bundles I bought.

For almost a year now, I've been planning to get a Scuba license. And after seeing the news items on the Giant-Squid sighting in Japan, I feel the need to get that license! Though I think you have to be really really deep to see something like this, and come to think of it I'd want to be inside "something" safe when Mr. "Calamares" shows up. I love eating squid pa naman, I wonder if Squids/Octopi are like Dogs, they'll know if you eat their kind. Man this thing'll make one big-ass IKA sushi roll!

I was by Banawe today, had the car go through a routine check up. Anyway, so I was there with the mechanic cleaning the terminals of my computer box, I had to park by a "canal" because the stores in Banawe have only single paking lots right in front of their shops. Ironic for a place which is essentially the de facto hotspot for "gray-market-car-service/parts/etc.". So yeah, I was pretty bothered by the stench of the canal, so curious me takes a look at what the hell the water looked like (something told me that if it stank, it should look like something that stinks!), the next thing I knew I was staring down at a black-oozing stream of oil mixed with the canal-water. I mean it looked like an oil tanker tipped over! Apparently mechanics who service cars for change-oil jobs DUMP the oil from those jobs into the canal. Talk about polluted water. I can only feel sorry for whatever place that much oil goes to on a daily basis. I think it eventually filters out to the ocean, or something. Jeez. Crazy, really. I think there's this lucrative market for recycling used oil, these mechanics need to be told that.

I brought Iris and my brother to Cold Rocks at The Fort. It's this fancy ice cream joint which serves your typical foray of ice cream flavors (at least they had choco mint, my favourite) plus some pretty branded toppings. Fucking expensive I tell you! Iris got the smallest serving size cup, plus one choice for her topping, chocolate ice cream with Nestle Crunch topping, uhuh Chocolate on Chocolate, go figure haha! Cost me almost 150 pesos! That's a lot considering it's just ice cream! Not gelato, or some exotic mix. Their biggest size serving comes in a cup (which is actually the size of an upsized Mcdonalds drink) goes for around 699, I think. That's just obscene. I heard the place gets packed during the weekends. I'll stick to the gelato from Amici de Don Bosco. :)

Last Sunday was the first time I watched a La Salle vs. Ateneo game not being part of the Pep Squad. I thought I was going to enjoy sitting. I didn't. I was on my feet shouting on the top of my lungs 90% of the time. So yeah, it was fun. It was also fun seeing how some companies were taking advantage of the draw of the UAAP games by giving out free "stuff", plus this hat I got was pretty cool too! Check 'em out. :)

I also have to buy the person who thought of the Half-time-show exit "thing" a beer, where the cheerleaders who performed on the floor did an "Arana-esque" exit. Yeah that technical-foul inducing "dance". :)

I keep on forgetting my car is color-coded (?) on Mondays. For people who don't live in the Philippines, due to the amount of traffic we have here in Manila, the government has this thing called "color coding", which basically prevents people from using their cars on certain days based on the last number of your plate number (now come to think of it, where's the color in the number-coding, hmmm, I think it should just be called number-coding). Anyway, so yeah, if for example your plate number ends in 1 or 2 you can't drive on Mondays, 3 or 4 Tuesday, and so on. Saturdays and Sundays are exempted from the NUMBER coding days. The whole thing works, actually, but with all the jeepneys , taxi cabs and tricycles we have around, it's pretty much pointless. Anyway so yeah, last year I think, the group of city governments decided to give leeway to people who have only one car. There's this number-coding window from 10AM-3PM wherein anyone (whose car is coded) can bring out their car and go wherever they want to. Except for some cities in the Metro (Makati and San Juan, I think) don't follow the "window", and people who are caught driving coded cars will still be apprehended. :) Fun!

So anyway, I went out today forgetting my car was coded. I think I passed three traffic aids who were practically screaming their butts off after attempting to hail me down. I think I can now write a book on escaping and evading MMDA aides, especially the traffic aides in Makati! Hehe!

If you're around the Quezon City area, and looking for a place to eat, do try Heaven N Eggs. It's located along Tomas Morato, and they serve food reminscient of the now defunct (but still operating, I heard) Country Waffles. Steak and Eggs, all day breakfasts, and your typical American Diner food and some Filipino dishes to boot. Good food, really. Their pancakes are served with 4 different syrups (Maple, Coconut, Pineapple, and Peach), Iris loves pineapple. And I heard their desserts are to-die for. A bit heavy on the wallet, though, but nonetheless I personally think the food is worth it.

If you are on a budget, and you're craving for some steaks. Check out Hotrocks (along Libis), they have really good steaks at really reasonable prices (I think the meat comes from Batangas). So there.

I've had a swiss-knife for over 10 years. My knife which my mom had my name engraved on (in bad-bad-script font) is still alive, and well (sans the toothpick and tweezers, plus a broken scissor). I want a 2nd knife.

I want to clean my car, but the rains won't let me. I mean standing back after a good hour battling with the dirt and grime, admiring the good job you did on washing your car -- and a good hour later hearing the big-ass droplets come down on your spanking-newly-washed car like how the rain pelted the armor of the defenders in that battle of helms deep in LOTR. Fuck noh? Hassle. Anyhoo, yeah, I'm getting all obsessive about a new patch of dust, the collecting pieces of mud I see on my carpet. Tsk. So yeah, I want to clean my car! So rain-rain go away!

I'm a sucker for zombie flicks, horror films (anything which didn't adapt anything), and a boatload of b-movie terror flicks! Hehe! I dunno, I'd like to think I'm pretty picky with films I watch, and somehow actually have good taste in movies -- but these types of movies (horror, terror, b-movie horror/terror, zombie flicks), I dunno, I've a really soft spot for them I guess.

I loved Saw! And it's coming out with a sequel of sorts, Saw 2. Duh.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose looks pretty believable, and scary in a strange no-nonsense way.

The Skeleton Key looks like something to watch for a good scare.

I watched this already: High Tension. Good stuff.

Podbrix has been coming out with iPod/Apple related figures and shirts for quite some time now, and it's pretty interesting watching how fast their limited-run figures go out of stock. I think these babies go so fast, they sell out in MINUTES at times. Well they came out with this Woz minifig recently, and it's going on sale this Thursday (7/04) at 21:00H EST. So yeah, if you're into this, and are willing to shell out $24.99 for one figure (they used to go for around $15.00 a piece as far back as I can remember, since they are limited and hand-made) -- head on over to their site. :)

I gave the iTrip back. Bad bad audio-quality. Plus passing through Makati, Ortigas or any area with big buildings and cell-sites/transmitters fucks up the quality more. Though it was fun broad-casting from my car while the other car beside me tuned in to what I was playing! Hehe! Piracy! Open-source radio! Lolx.

So we lost to the Tamaraw's, plus Alonso and Montoya didn't finish that good (Montoya didn't even finish). Tsk. Bad day for my sports. :(
